vs coed.... NO
victoria turning coed?... FUCK NO.
there are enough coed schools in sinagpore. if vs were to turn coed, many smarter boys of the east will be deprived of a better education that a single sex school can provide.
quoting from the straits times article, secondary 4 student timothy cheah,16, said that he feared that the school would become 'like any other government co-ed school and lose what identity and uniquenesss we have.'
and this is so fucking true.
i would be pissed and angry too if cedar was to run coed. cedarian boys? yuck.
fuck the education ladder. throw 129 years of tradition away just to climb up the ladder? is anyone that insane? is the need to the at the top more worthy than 129 years of tradition? that's longer than a normal singaporean life span dammit. how can they give up 129 years, to just wanna supposedly be a better instituition. ask your self seriously, how many good coed schools are there in singapore in the top ten list? are there more single sex schools in the list? have anyone asked yourself why?
haven't anyone learn their lessons through subjects like geography and history.
in geography,
Investors and developers sacrifce our natural environment, for commercial development. supposedly trying to improve the economy, to provide its peopele with a better life? well it think that there are just looking at the short term or should i say monetary advatages. well, face it, the world is runned by the big bucks. everyone is looking for opportuntities to fill their pockets with cash. oh ok, i cannot deny the fact that developments of countries do help provide people with a higher standard of living and a better quality of life (eg china). but has anyone thought about our future generations or is it just that people dun care what happens after they die. having factories that pollute the environment till it is no longer able to sustain life. always having the mentality that almost all problems could be solved by men and our artificial methods. well, try stopping desertifictaion.
clearing primary forest , which has been on the force of our tiny earth for millions of years. we should actually worship the trees as they have been there for so long and still alive and growing.
well in current affairs for example. do you guys know that according to a the most recent european values study, just 21 percent of Europeans say religion is very important to them. well, as we know from history, europe is where the chatholic and christianty started. its like teh holy land. wars have also been fought over the different ideologies of both religions. so what has happened that has cause the other 79% to think otherwise when their forefathers fought of religion.
i can go on and on about this but the point is that tradition is important and once its changed, its lost.
geography, history, religions, mr ang wanting vs to turn coed its all the same.
well, victoria was a darn reputable and good school before princial ang. VS used to be ranked within the top 15 schools.
so no i wonder why the schools academic performace is decreasing. As quoted from the vs petition webpage, his basic premise to turn coed was to keep VS sustainable, as an academic institution. hmmm comparing the psle scores of the intake of the current students and previous batches there isn't really much difference. anyway the previous principal didn't leave mr ang with a school with fucked up o level results.
so i still wonder why the school's academic performance is going down. haven't the governement been preaching not to lose our roots, not to forgo and forget our tradition.
everyone is driven to work for money and self gains but is it worth it to lose our tradition and forget our roots in the process. but in life there are many things tat matter more.
hah well all i have to say to victorians out there is study hard man...chiong study. the fate of VS lies in the class of 2005.
